What to Expect From A Chalk Training Ground Session
Chalk Training Ground, or CTG for short, is a club built for the “everyday athlete”. They call their open training floor the “heartbeat of the gym”, offering up to two sessions simultaneously that encourage openness and camaraderie in an environment built to push your limits, whilst being inclusive.
CTG offer a range of strength and conditioning classes that incorporates kit such as barbells, kettlebells and medicine balls for strength work and Ski-ergs, Concept 2 rowers and air bikes for cardio conditioning.
Class types include ERG Conditioning which works on power, endurance and aerobic capacity; Strong Lifts which is a weights and barbell class focusing on perfecting the big, compound lifts alongside accessory strength and Renegade Master which is a hybrid class combining cardio and strength. Crossfit is also offered in Chalk Crossfit classes.
The Reception Service
Our reception journey was smooth and polite, with the strongest points coming from the speed of check-in and the general professionalism of the team. The phone enquiry was handled clearly, class and package information was explained well, and WhatsApp follow-up was offered. On arrival, we were checked in quickly, our booking was confirmed, and when we asked for a refresher after not visiting for a while, we were pointed in the right direction for the changing rooms and waiting area.
There was not much guidance beyond that. We were not introduced to the team by name, our name was not used, and no health questionnaire or waiver was completed during the visit. After class, we had to approach reception ourselves to ask about packages. A price list was available and questions were answered clearly, but the conversation stayed reactive rather than led by the team.
The Class Experience
Chalk Training Ground has achieved The Fit Guide’s Class Experience Award of Excellence, making it one of Dubai’s stand-out offerings.
Our class experience was a real strong point. The session was energetic, well structured and easy to follow, with a coach who kept the room moving and brought a lot of positivity. The class started on time, the workout was explained clearly, and the overall setup made it easy to understand what was coming next. Timings, demonstrations and transitions were all handled well, which kept the session flowing.
The atmosphere in the room was one of the best parts. Coaching was clear and encouraging, and there was a noticeable sense of community during the session. We also saw good technical support during the workout, including form correction and individual cues. The post-class interaction was short because of the quick turnaround into the next session, but we still left on a positive note.
The Equipment And Studio
Our experience in the studio was highly positive. The training space was open, well maintained and clearly built for performance-based group training. Equipment was clean, high quality and arranged well, with enough available for the whole class without things feeling cramped.
The room itself looked sharp and purposeful. Flooring, walls and ceilings were all in good condition, the temperature worked well for training, and the branding gave the space a strong identity. Lighting added to the visual impact without getting in the way of the workout, and the overall setup looked polished.
The Facilities And Public Areas
Our experience in the public areas was highly positive. The club was easy to find and made a strong first impression, with bold signage and a clear street presence. Inside, the design felt polished and modern, with strong branding, a comfortable waiting area and a layout that was easy to navigate.
The changing areas were a standout. They were spacious, clean and well stocked, and the bathrooms and showers were also in very good condition. Complimentary water, a well-presented café and a good selection of drinks and snacks all added to the overall setup. The only clear miss here was the lack of towels, which stood out because the rest of the space was so well put together.
Digital And Technology
Our digital journey worked well overall. Booking through the website was straightforward, payment could be made by credit card, and the process was simple to complete. Confirmation came through by email, and the club also had a branded app available, which added another easy option for booking and account management.
The main issue was the website itself. While the branding came through and the booking function worked, the site was not reliable enough. Some elements overlapped, buttons were not working properly, and much of the site led to dead links. Social media performed much better, with active channels, clear booking information and content that matched the in-person experience.
