The MOTION Story

MOTION, founded in Dubai in 2017 by career entrepreneur Amélie Hua, was the first boutique rhythm cycling club in Dubai. Inspired by her experiences with Soul Cycle in the US and Dynamo in France, Amélie recognized the absence of an equivalent in Dubai and established the brand's first studio. 

In addition to the club’s cycling product, MOTION has expanded its offerings to include "MOTION Flow," a yoga concept. MOTION now boasts a total of three studios across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with another Dubai studio due to open soon.

What to Expect From A MOTION Session

A session at Motion Cycling is designed around rhythm-based indoor cycling in a dark, music-led studio environment. Classes take place in candlelit rooms with loud playlists, immersive lighting, and instructors coaching riders through climbs, sprints, and beat-driven intervals over a 45-minute format.

The experience places strong emphasis on atmosphere and community alongside cardiovascular training. Sessions combine endurance work with upper-body choreography and sustained tempo riding, creating a format that blends performance-focused cycling with a more immersive boutique studio feel.

The Reception Service

We had a strong start on arrival, with a warm welcome and a smooth, well organised check-in. Our first visit was acknowledged, and we were given clear guidance on where to go, how the space worked, and what to expect before the class. The process ran efficiently, and we were able to get settled without any confusion.

Service throughout was friendly and confident, with good product knowledge and clear communication. We were guided through key details like the class setup and facilities, which helped us feel prepared. A health questionnaire was not completed, but the overall arrival still felt structured and easy to navigate.

After class, the team checked in with us and handled the sales conversation well. Options were explained clearly, questions were asked about our routine, and a suitable package was recommended. The approach was confident without being pushy, which left a positive final impression.

The Class Experience

The class delivered a high energy, polished session that was easy to follow and enjoyable from start to finish. The structure was clear, timing was well managed, and instructions were simple to understand. The session flowed smoothly, with strong cues and well judged options to adjust intensity where needed.

The coach brought great energy into the room and kept momentum high throughout. There was consistent encouragement, good engagement with the group, and visible effort to support newer participants during and after the class. No formal injury check took place at the start, but the session still felt well controlled and accessible.

What stood out most was the atmosphere. The room felt lively, supportive and connected, with members interacting naturally after the session. It left us feeling energised and keen to come back.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio looked modern, clean and very well maintained. Everything felt new and carefully presented, which gave the space a strong first impression. Lighting and sound played a big role in the overall experience, creating an immersive and high energy training environment.

Equipment was in excellent condition and clearly of professional quality. Bikes and strength equipment were well spaced and fully stocked, with enough options to support different ability levels. The layout made it easy to move through the session without disruption.

The overall setup felt polished and purposeful. While the equipment itself did not include visible branding, the space still felt consistent and aligned with the overall identity of the club.

The Facilities And Public Areas

Our experience in the public areas was highly positive. The design was sleek, calm and very polished, with a modern layout that felt premium throughout. As a newer space, everything appeared pristine and immaculately maintained, creating a strong sense of quality.

The layout flowed well between reception, waiting and changing areas, making it easy to move around. The atmosphere remained comfortable, with good lighting, music at the right level and a clear sense of organisation. Branding was consistent across signage, retail and small details without feeling excessive.

The changing and grooming areas were a highlight. They were spacious, clean and well presented, with high quality finishes and neatly arranged amenities. Showers and toilets were in excellent condition, with strong water pressure and all essentials provided. Lockers were clean and easy to use, with both workout and shower towels available and well presented. Emergency exits were not clearly marked, and lockers did not include hangers, but overall the space was very well executed.

Digital And Technology

The digital journey was smooth and easy to navigate. Booking a class was straightforward, with both the website and app offering a clear and simple process. Classes could be booked, managed and cancelled without any issues, and confirmation was received quickly by email.

The website felt polished and consistent with the brand, with clear class information, schedules and directions available. It was mobile friendly and easy to use, making it simple for first time users to understand the offering and get started.

Social media supported the experience well, with regular updates and content that reflected the in-studio atmosphere. Email communication was reliable and included key information, though it was more functional than distinctive. Overall, the digital setup worked well and supported the full journey from booking to arrival.

Pricing

MOTION Mercarto Mall offers a couple introductory deals for first-time clients. Newcomers can buy 10 credits for 70AED and enjoy a session of cycling or reformer class. First timers can also pay 200AED for 30 credits.

If you’re looking for a longer-term commitment, larger class packages are available from 1050AED for 10 classes per month up to 1,890AED for 20 classes.

Drop-in sessions are available at 126AED per class, with smaller commitment packages also available, starting at a 4-pack for 462AED.
