The BXR Story

BXR is a high-end boxing concept gym that was founded in 2017 by Olia Sardarova, with the backing of celebrity boxer Anthony Joshua. Sardarova had a vision to bring the high-end boxing classes that she had experienced in New York City to London. With Joshua's support, she set out to create a gym that would cater to the city's more discerning fitness enthusiasts.

The first BXR location opened in Marylebone, featuring a Joe and The Juice bar and luxury design, features, and artwork. Sardarova's goal was to create a premium fitness experience that

BXR's group class concept, Sweat by BXR, was launched as a sub-brand, providing strength and conditioning, yoga and their famous Versaclimber classes. With the success of the Marylebone location, BXR expanded to additional locations in London and one in Doha, Qatar. They have also launched a luxury gym concept to facilitate retreats in Daios Cove, Greece.

The gym's focus on luxury amenities, premium design, and high-quality coaching has made it a go-to destination for fitness enthusiasts in London and beyond.

The Reception Service

When we called ahead, the line was picked up quickly and we got the information we needed with no fuss. The receptionist was knowledgeable and upbeat, which helped us feel prepared for our visit.

Arriving at the studio, we were greeted with a smile and checked in quickly. We were shown where to find the changing rooms and studio, though a bit more clarity and a touch more initiative and personalisation would have improved the interaction. Everything felt friendly, but it stayed fairly surface-level.

After class, the goodbye was polite, but there was no follow-up to see how we enjoyed class or to spark a conversation about returning. The team was helpful when we asked questions, but they didn’t go out of their way to suggest another class or explain membership options until prompted.

The Class Experience

BXR Canary Wharf received our Recommended rating for the Class Experience.

The class delivered a great workout, led by a confident and capable coach who kept the energy up and the structure clear. The boxing-and-weights split made for a fun, fast-moving session, and the music and pacing kept us engaged from start to finish. The coach’s positive vibe and clear explanations made the hour fly by, leaving us feeling like we’d pushed ourselves.

While the workout itself was strong, it could have felt more personal. There wasn’t much extra attention given to beginners beyond a quick general check-in, and we didn’t get individual tips or encouragement along the way.

By the end, we were happily tired and appreciated the cooldown, complete with stretching and a light-hearted class clap to wrap things up.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio space felt like a showpiece for the brand — polished, modern, and clearly well cared for. The equipment was spotless and in top condition, with every piece neatly arranged and plenty available for all levels. The thoughtful layout made it easy to move around without feeling cramped, and the branded touches on the equipment tied the space to the club’s identity.

The environment itself had a cool, high-energy vibe. The lighting shifted with the workout, giving the class a sense of momentum, and the music pumped clearly through a high-quality sound system. Everything about the setup felt intentional, from the strobe and color-changing lights to the BXR logos and motivational phrases on the mirrors.

Aside from a few bits of lint on the floor, the space felt immaculately maintained, comfortable, and ready for action.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas delivered a strong first impression, with striking design touches like boxing mannequins in the window, glove-lined walls, and bold murals that immediately set the tone. The space felt fresh and inviting, and there was a sense of energy as we walked in, thanks to music playing and plenty of branded details tying it all together.

The changing rooms and showers were mostly in great condition, stocked with thoughtful amenities like moisturiser, cotton buds, and fresh towels. The gold water fountain and premium drinks and snack options added a fun, upscale touch.

Overall, the design and atmosphere felt dynamic and on-brand, with plenty of visual interest throughout.

Digital And Technology

The digital journey felt smooth and polished, starting with an easy-to-use booking system that worked seamlessly across the website and app. The site was sleek, bold, and very much on-brand. We found it simple to find information, book a session, and feel ready for our visit.

The club’s social media was visually strong and reflected the vibe of the studio well, showcasing what a class might feel like.
