The Psycle Story

Psycle was founded in 2014 by Rhian Stephenson with a vision of helping people get hooked on the “transformative power of movement”. Their first Oxford Circus location became famous for offering some of the fitness industry’s best cycling classes, and this helped fuel growth to other locations around London.

Psycle now offers five different workout modalities - Ride, Barre, HIIT, Reformer and Yoga - across four primely located London branches. Riders also have an on-demand digital platform to choose from called Psycle At Home, offering Ride, Yoga, HIIT and Barre.

The Highlights

The studio had a nice atmosphere and was calming.

The spacious public areas were also a highlight.

What Our Evaluator Had To Say

“The music helped to make the session enjoyable.”

“There was a calming atmosphere throughout the studio, which offered a nice respite after a busy day.”

“The coach let us all know that it was our time and our mat, and we could work at our own pace.”

What To Expect From A Psycle Yoga Session

Yoga at Psycle combines traditional movements and philosophy with fresh, energizing music playlists. Align your mind and body in a balancing and uplifting escape from hectic London life.

Class types include Revival, which offers a “Power Flow” followed by a slow Yin sequence; Flow, which is a slower paced, beginner friendly class; and Power Flow, which is a more fast-paced practice with an upbeat playlist.

The Reception Service

The phone enquiry for Psycle Oxford Circus set a strong tone for the visit, handled with confidence and professionalism. The staff member who answered provided a clear picture of what to expect, from class types to facilities, all delivered in a friendly, enthusiastic tone that made booking straightforward.

In-person, the reception process was smooth and efficient, with registration and orientation handled without fuss. Staff pointed out key areas like the changing rooms and where to head for class, making sure the essentials were covered.

The overall vibe at reception leaned more functional than warm. While staff were polite, smiled, and kept the process professional, there wasn’t much effort to connect on a personal level or create memorable moments.

When the class ended, there was no check-in on how things went or encouragement to return, which left the departure feeling a bit transactional.

The Class Experience

The class at Psycle Oxford Circus was well-structured and delivered with professionalism, with the coach keeping a calm and friendly tone throughout. The session itself was physically rewarding, and the coach made sure options were available for more challenging poses, encouraging clients to work at their own pace and reminding them that “it’s your mat, your time.”.

However, the experience lacked personal touches. There was little effort to connect with first-time clients, no introductions or check-ins to make newcomers feel especially supported, and limited individual guidance. At times, we felt the instructions and explanations were inconsistent. Some poses weren’t explained, and music occasionally overpowered the coach’s voice, making it difficult to follow along.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio offered a calm and comfortable setting for the class, with plenty of space for us all to move and train without feeling cramped. Equipment was clean, in good condition, and well-organized, helping the session run smoothly.

The environment felt supportive of the workout, with thoughtful touches like incense and lighting changes during the cooldown, which shifted the mood to a more relaxing tone.

There were no distinctive branding elements or standout design features, leaving the studio feeling a bit plain visually despite its functionality.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The public areas at Psycle Oxford Circus struck a good balance between comfort and practicality. The general areas, showers, and bathrooms were clean and well-maintained, with thoughtful amenities like cotton buds, lotion, and deodorant stocked and ready to use. Complimentary workout and shower towels were provided, neatly stacked and fresh, while a range of food and drink options, from shakes to smoothie bowls, were appreciated.

While motivational signs like “Sweat and Smile” added a nice touch, the overall design and architectural identity didn’t leave a strong impression.

The changing rooms, though functional, showed a bit of wear and became crowded after class, and some practical touches. Even so, our overall experience of the public spaces was positive.

Digital And Technology

Psycle Oxford Circus' website worked smoothly overall. It was clean, easy-to-use and reflected the brand well. The booking platform that made it simple to reserve and manage classes.

There was no branded app to streamline the journey further, and while social media was active and visually consistent with the brand, class schedules weren’t posted.
