The KX Pilates Story

KX Pilates, founded in 2010 by Aaron Smith, is a well-known Australian Pilates brand with a strong and growing international presence. Smith was inspired by some of the dynamic Pilates concepts he tried in London, and had a vision of bringing this style back to Australia.

The brand has grown rapidly and now has 100 studios in Australia and the broader Asia Pacific region, including New Zealand, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and Thailand. KX Pilates started as a single studio in Malvern, Victoria, and later expanded through franchising.

Selina Bridge is the current CEO, and since joining, has helped expand the brand’s footprint and market presence.

The focus is technical, steady and results driven.

The Reception Service

Our pre-visit call to the studio was not answered. In person, the experience was strong. We were greeted promptly, acknowledged as first timers and checked in efficiently. An unrushed orientation included a walkthrough of the space and a clear explanation of how the reformer works, which meant we started class feeling confident.

After class, there was a friendly check-in and pricing was explained clearly. Questions were answered with ease and the tone remained professional and warm.

The Class Experience

KX Pilates Richmond received The Fit Guide Five-Star Class Experience Award, making it one of Melbourne's stand-out offerings.

Class delivery was a standout. We were greeted before the session, asked about previous Pilates experience and guided through how the class would run. The session started on time, the format was easy to follow and demonstrations were clear.

Exercises flowed well with clearly communicated timings. Regressions and progressions were offered and individual form corrections were delivered discreetly. The session finished with a structured cooldown and positive wrap-up. The coaching quality and technical delivery were very strong, helping the experience achieve our highest award.

The Equipment And Studio

The studio was clean, organised and professional. Reformer machines were in excellent condition and well maintained. Equipment was spaced appropriately, fully stocked and suitable for different ability levels.

Floors, walls and ceilings were clean, lighting was appropriate and temperature was well managed. Brand presence was visible through logos and signage. The design combined functionality with warm details.

The Facilities And Public Areas

The studio was easy to locate with clear external signage. Public areas were tidy and straightforward to navigate. The waiting area provided adequate seating with comfortable temperature and suitable music levels.

Changing areas were clean with amenities such as hand wash, hand cream, deodorant and hair ties. Space was limited with two toilets available for changing. There were no showers, towels were not provided and lockers did not include locks or hangers. Complimentary water was available, with no additional food or beverage options.
